Short Summary of GlobalVision Review
GlobalVision is an interesting choice of translation company. It has been founded back in 1996, so it’s been operating for an impressive 24 years. At the same time, its reputation remains ambiguous because there are very few reviews of its services available online. There are many reviews of Global Vision International published on its site, but it’s impossible to check the degree of their authenticity due to a possible bias. The thing that made us wary is that there are several obvious mistakes in grammar in some sections, which speaks against the firm’s professionalism.
Global Vision provides many types of services, from ordinary translation to localization, phone interpretation, transcreation, and others. It serves over 100 languages and has +350 professional Italian, Russian, Arabic translators in addition to more than 4000 freelance specialists. We studied its site carefully and then placed an order with it, asking for English to Italian translation of a medical text.
Pricing Range
While Global Vision International discloses its price policies on its website, it doesn’t state anything directly. There is a formula it offers, which requires you to calculate a number of words in your document, divide it into 4, and then multiply this sum by the number of languages you are interested in. We found this approach strange, though it’s better than if the company had just hidden this information entirely. After we’ve placed our order, we got the price of about $55 per page, which is significantly higher than market average translation rates. So, you risk losing a fortune if your project is large, urgent, or complex. Thus, we consider the pricing of GlobalVision a drawback because of its expensiveness.
Speed of Delivery Process
To our displeasure, project arrived late. There was a delay of more than 12 hours, which is frustrating and decidedly unprofessional. We required a medium level of urgency, and being late by 12 hours, in this case, is particularly unacceptable. We did get an apology and an explanation, but while it soothed our frustration, it didn’t eliminate it entirely.
Quality Assessment
Translation services we received were below expected level of quality. There were issues in almost every category we checked, with grammar, proofreading, as well as contextual and technical mistakes. Many paragraphs read as if they were translated via machine, not by a human expert. There were flaws in formatting, and medical terms were distorted or even mistranslated in some instances. We demanded a revision, and to be fair, our translator was polite, apologetic, and willing to assist. But even revision didn’t help much, and we ended up with a document that we’d never be able to use if we needed it for real.
Satisfaction Levels
Speaking with GlobalVision’s representatives was a pleasant experience, but quality of its services was subpar, and translator failed our specified deadline. We don’t doubt that this firm must have professionals working for it — otherwise, it would have never stayed in the market for such a long period of time. The problem might lie with its freelancers. Though GlobalVision claims it organizes strict selection processes, our experiment shows that it’s clearly not the case. Our translator was far from being an expert, so as clients, we weren’t satisfied.
Certified Translation Services Option
Yes, Global Vision provides certified translation services to its clients, having received the required qualification from authoritative body. This fact means that it definitely employs some professional linguists, so if you decide to hire its services, it’s better to choose certified ones to make sure that quality is satisfactory and that your work is in the hands of an actual expert.
Final Reflection and GlobalVision Rating
Due to all identified problems, we can give Global Vision review only 2 stars out of 5. It’s not the best firm in translation industry, and while it might have been successful at some point, its quality levels have obviously fallen since then. If you require the best document translation services or localization, check top-rated firms we’ve already tested. Global Vision International might still improve its performance if it starts paying more diligent attention to people it hires, but for now, its quality isn’t sufficient, so we can’t recommend it to our visitors.
