Morningside Translations is a large translation company with more than 8000 experts working worldwide, covering almost 150 languages, and providing an array of services in multiple spheres. At first, we were impressed by these numbers and ordered text for translation using a rather rare language pair. Besides, all other reviews were checked which resulted in full grasp of situation. Overall, we were rather disappointed with Morningside Translations since such important nowadays industries as software development or website localization services could not be completed by this agency at an appropriate quality.

Present Pricing 

The first thing that resulted in a negative surprise was the prices range absence. Unlike many other translation services, Morningside Translations do not provide list of available plans so that customers can plan their budget. All prospective clients should fill in a lengthy form to request a quote. This presupposes increased wait time and makes this service inappropriate for urgent translations.

We received our quote for basic text localization and can say that it is comparatively high if all other available prices on market are taken into consideration. Given the received deliverable’s quality, we cannot consider charged prices being worth paying for that result. There are many other services available online that can provide instant quote, better quality, even lower prices.

Turnaround Time

If we exclude waiting time for quote processing from equation, overall delivery timeframe was more than satisfactory. We received translated text in a timely manner prior to requested deadline. Morningside Translations offers twice as many language pairs as many other companies do, such as professional Vietnamese translation services, Russian, translation from Czech to English, German, Chinese to English translation services. Our fellow professional translator proficient in those two languages checked obtained text and found out many stylistic or even factual errors that can be explained only by utilization of machine translation. This factor explains faster delivery and lower quality as compared to other services from our list of top options.

General Satisfaction Rate 

Multiple customers’ thoughts were gathered that resulted in comprehensive Morningside Translations review. General impressions completely align with our own feedback and allow treating this service as belonging to average level.

Comparing list of clients, testimonials, and case studies presented on agency’s website with similar lists of other services that we consider to be the best, we noticed that this agency’s list is at least two times shorter with only a few dozens of businesses’ names that cooperated with this agency and allowed public acknowledgment. Testimonials left by some unnamed Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies also do not look believable or convincing. 

Opportunities for Certified Translation

Unfortunately, we did not see the application of certified translators’ work in received document even though Morningside Translations acknowledges availability of ISO-certified quality assurance. It is a fact that many company’s employees indeed possess appropriate certification and qualification but we are not sure that all of 8000 translators do so. Quality drawbacks in many other customers’ projects suggest the same. It appears that only in-house employees and editors definitely possess relevant certification and machine translation technologies are widely used in work. 

Final Decision

Based on results of review we conducted, we do not recommend this company for those who require certified human translation done by accurate translators and being completely error-free. We suggest using company for not complex projects that require great precision for other services it is better to check our list of top translation services. Wide array of covered languages allows recommending this agency to those who require very specific language pairs and can afford absence of full accuracy.
